About the Role
Interior Architect - middleweight (residential and commercial)
£35,000 - £45,000

We are supporting an established central London design studio, currently growing due to a steady influx of global projects and ongoing client demand.
Known for its collaborative culture, this studio delivers a range of project styles tailored to each client's vision. There is every chance you can work on modern and traditional projects offering variety, but also necessitating the agility required from their designers. Projects span private residential, commercial residential, and hotels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop creative and functional design concepts for interior spaces, ensuring alignment with client needs, project requirements, and the latest design trends
- Create efficient space layouts, considering ergonomics, lighting, acoustics, and overall functionality
- Prepare detailed architectural drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and 3D renderings using design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, etc.)
- Create and develop bespoke designs for joinery, chandeliers, carpet, etc through technical drawings and details in collaboration with artisans and craftsman
- Research and specify appropriate materials, finishes, and furnishings that align with the project’s design intent, budget, and sustainability goals
- Work closely with the interior team, architect, project manager, contractors, and clients to ensure that the design vision is implemented accurately throughout the project lifecycle
- Present design proposals, concepts, and material selections to clients, and incorporate their feedback into final designs
- Work alongside a small design team
- Assist and manage production design information for tender purposes such as finishes schedule, ironmongery schedule, door schedule, etc
- Ability to design within a given budget liaising with the PM Team
- Liaise with the design team to ensure that the design intent is carried throughout the Detail Design stage
- Ensure all designs meet local building codes, regulations, and standards in conjunction with the relevant local specialists
- Liaise with contractors, consultants and suppliers as necessary during construction to monitor quality and resolve any design issues
- Assist in providing general technical expertise to the in-house design team
Required skills:
- Software skills must include: Autocad, SketchUp, and Adobe Suite
- Knowledge of UK building regulations, construction technology, UK planning policies and procurement methods
- This is a client facing role, the candidate should demonstrate good communication, excellent spoken and written English, and strong organisational skills
- A proactive approach to working, (can do attitude), with an ability to take the initiative and drive projects
