Role Overview: Architectural Assistant

The Architectural Assistant will play a pivotal role in supporting the Project/Senior Architect and Project Manager across all architectural and technical stages within this bespoke, design-led practice. Key responsibilities include developing concept designs, preparing tender and construction drawing packages, coordinating consultant inputs, and assisting with contract administration, AI reviews, and shop drawings. Additionally, the role involves supporting project management, quality assurance, and securing statutory approvals, such as planning permissions and licenses to alter.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare architectural tender and construction drawings under the guidance of the Project/Senior Architect.
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic and dedication to delivering exceptional luxury design projects to the highest standards within set timelines.
  • Apply advanced spatial awareness to contribute to architectural and spatial design, collaborating closely with senior team members.
  • Communicate design concepts and technical information effectively with team members, consultants, and contractors; hand sketching skills are an advantage.
  • Ensure all drawings meet the rigorous standards of luxury design, with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Identify potential risks and address challenges proactively and constructively.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of construction contract administration processes, including RFIs, AIs, valuations, and interim payment certificates, with a focus on cost and timelines.
  • Showcase strong technical detailing skills, particularly in bespoke joinery and interior fittings, with a good knowledge of common construction methods.
  • Embrace a collaborative, hands-on approach and show initiative when needed.
  • Proficiently use ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Photoshop, InDesign, and visualisation tools is desirable.
  • Possess knowledge of planning policies, UK building regulations, and health and safety legislation.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in architecture or interior design, specifically in the UK luxury residential sector.
  • Essential Part II or equivalent qualification, with relevant experience also considered.
  • Proven experience in bespoke joinery design is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and methodologies.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a leading studio known for its dedication to excellence and innovation in the luxury design sector.
